Red-tail Cottage
“Listen to the wind it talks.
Listen to the silence it speaks.
Listen to your heart it knows.”

Sit back and take in the raw, heavily-wooded landscape while nestled privately among the treetops of Hawks View Bluff, or enjoy your hawks-eye view of the Mississippi River’s main channel from either of two decks.
Red-tail Cottage has been crafted with hand-hewn timber beams, which define its interior spaces with rustic splendor. These estate-grown, storm-felled oak and elm timbers are the soul of this cottage’s memorable ambience.

About the Red-tail hawk
The Red-tail hawk’s soaring flight is made with wings that are often at a light upward angle, flapping as little as possible to conserve energy. Soaring or flapping its wings the red-tail travels from 20-40 mph. The hawk’s active flight is slow and deliberate but when diving may exceed 120 mph. The red-tail hawk is second only to the peregrine falcon and the great horned owl in terms of its diverse habitats throughout North America.
The Red-tail is a popular falconry bird and is allowed to novice falconers. This bird is highly trainable and tamable which keeps it a favorite for this sport.
The American indigenous people consider this hawk’s feathers to be as sacred as that of the bald eagle. Possession of its feathers are regulated by the Eagle Feather Law and can be found adorning regalia of many Native Americans worn during religious ceremonies.
Green Sustainable & Fantastic
This cottage from structural design to construction has been built to be resource-efficient. Lovely additional features found within Red-tail are its skylight and smaller peepholes windows letting in the light wherever possible.
